Appointment was booked for end of January for my PET scan results.
As I walked round Aldi today, phone call from hospital saying my appointment has been brought forward to next week. Pretty sure I forgot some shopping after that! I am glad as I will know sooner but hasn’t filled me with much hope.
2021 hasn’t been a great year for my family. Hope 2022 isn’t starting the same.
This forum is such a great support network. So many of us in similar situations and it makes me feel I am not alone. I have faced this before and I can face it again.

Glad to hear you are staying strong & positive.
I hear you, 2021 has not been good for my family either as our journey started on 25th January with a lot of ups and downs through the year. Unfortunately we have been given a terminal diagnosis for my husband so 2022 doesn't look like it will be a great year.
Good Luck with your results, thinking of you x
Hi Edinmum,
Thanks for the reply. So sorry to hear of your husbands terminal diagnosis. I know how tough and heartbreaking it is to see someone you love and care for live with an incurable illness. Sending my thoughts.
I will be glad when Wednesday is here, need to know what I am dealing with.
To keep my mind occupied just now I am cleaning like I have never cleaned before! Giving Mrs Hinch a run for her money :)
I am guessing you are from Edinburgh by the name or am I totally wrong. I am just a bit further north from you, south of Aberdeen.

Hi Ann_G and a Hi from Inverness.
I have been on my cancer journey for over 22 years now with multiple relapses.
One thing I learned over these many years was never jump to any conclusions when an appointment is brought forward. This can be due to them back filling canceled appointments, they want to double check some stuff, they have good news or not so good news....... one thing for sure is when I had very bad news I would get a phone call telling me I had an appoitment the next morning ((HUGS))
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the message. Jumping to conclusions is the norm for me :)
I hear exactly what you are saying and I agree. I can’t say one way or another what I will be told until I am there on Wednesday.
You have had a fair journey. 22 years! I am 10 years post first diagnosis.
I was up your way last year pre Covid for the Inverness half marathon, great weekend.

Hi Anne, well done doing the Ness Half Marathon.
Lets look for good news when you have your appointment.
Wishing you all the best for 2022.
Ann_G Thanks for your reply.
I have seen my gran, Papa & Aunt lose their battle with cancer over the last 13 years. I never thought I would become my husbands carer and have to bring up 2 children on my own.
Yes I am in Edinburgh but I actually grew up in Aberdeen. My parents are still there. Pre-Covid we were up regularly but I haven't been there since Xmas 2019! My children are heading up there tomorrow to spend sometime with granny & grandad & to celebrate their little cousins 1st birthday. We had hoped that we would be able to go up for the day to celebrate too but my husband is unable to travel that far.
Congrats on the Half Marathon. I have done the Edinburgh & the Scottish Half. I find running is a good release for me, helps to clear my mind and escape for a little while.
Good luck on Wednesday. We have an oncology appointment on Wednesday too. The last time the oncologist saw my husband she said there was another chemo he could try in a bid to slow down the growth rate of the cancer. (his cancer is rare so they don't really know much about how to treat it). He wanted to wait until New Year so he could have an enjoyable Xmas. He has managed to have some fun over the festive period but he has also deteriorated so we are expecting the oncologist to say he is not strong enough to try the chemo.
I really hope you get good news for a positive start to 2022. x
Hi Edinmum,
Hope your children had a lovely time with granny and grandad!
Do you mind me asking what type of cancer your husband has? The mass they have found is on my adrenal gland and there isn’t much information re this. 10 years ago I had breast cancer, unsure if it is secondaries to that or a new primary or fingers crossed could be benign. Hopefully Wednesday will give me some answers.
I love my running, I run most days, it is my destress go to. 2021 hasn’t been a great year for my family, hoping 2022 is better.
Hope you and your husband get some positive news at your appointment on Wednesday.

My husbands cancer is in his peritoneum again not much information but it is likened to ovarian cancer in men.
They say the cancer he has is a secondary cancer but they have never been able to find the primary which is why they haven’t really known how to treat it.
Unfortunately my husband was admitted to hospital yesterday as his pain had become too much. The Dr says he has a partial obstruction of the bowel but there is nothing surgically that can be done. He is in hospital for them to try & get a handle on the pain & to make him comfortable.
2020 he got lots of tests, scans, x-rays but nothing showed up. It wasn’t until they did emergency surgery Jan 2021 for a suspected bowel obstruction that they found the tumors.
2021 was a difficult year for us too but 2022 is going to be the hardest so far.
I really wish you all the luck with your results tomorrow. x
Hi Ann_G thank you for your message.
Unfortunately things have declined as the week has gone on. His pain seems to be under control with a combination of sedatives, pain relief & muscle relaxants.
He has become less aware of his surroundings every day & just sleeps.
he is being moved to a hospice this morning. I’m just waiting to them to call me with a time for the transfer.
If there was something I could do to make it quicker for him then I would. It’s not until you are in a situation like this that you understand what it means.
How did your appointment go? I hope it was good news for you.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
