Lashing out at friends and loved ones after diagnosis

Hello,

I’m new here and probably not taking my diagnosis very well so looking for some advice and support.
I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 3 IDC. I feel like initially I took the news well but more recently I find I am sweating the small things and lashing out and friends and loved ones over such insignificant things to the point I’m just upsetting myself because it’s not the kind of person I am Face palm tone1‍♀️

Feel like I’m losing my mind at times and just being misunderstood, not sure if it’s normal or not.

guess I’m looking to see if anyone else experienced the same and if so if they had any advice

  • Hi there, so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Your emotional reactions are not so unusual, it's difficult news to receive and we react in different ways, I hope your friends and family understand. You might think about having a chat with the lovely folks at Macmillan, who are great at providing advice and can even set up some more formal counselling for you if that would be useful.  You can call them on 0800 808 0000 from 8am to 8pm every day. Best wishes

  • Hello, I am very sorry for your diagnosis. I think there is no easy way to internalise the situation. Once you start to trust the  process, It gets easier. Good luck with your treatment.
