Hi all
Hope it's okay to post here. My wife has very recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, we knew she was BRCA positive before and she is part of the screening process, we just weren't expecting her to have cancer within a year of finding this out.
We are in the process of decision-making and I want to support my wife through this process. We only just got married this summer, and want children, but this has very much left our plans up in the air. I'd be very grateful if people would like to share their experiences here.
Her options are pretty much double mastectomy or breast conserving with a course of radiotherapy. The tumour was picked up very early, so we have high hopes that it won't have spread to the lymph nodes.
Hello NeilMcB48c0d4,
I'm so sorry to hear about what you and your wife is currently go through. I would suggest having a chat with your oncologist about the options with regards to preserving fertility ( freezing eggs ) among other things. The fact that this was caught early is great as they more than likely will be treating with the intent to cure.
Best wishes
