Feeling a bit lost

Hi, this is my first time posting and I think it's because I'm feeling a bit lost.

I was diagnosed with IDC grade 2 ER+PR+Her2- in May, had a lumpectomy in June and finished my radiotherapy last month. I started on Tamoxifen 3 weeks ago.

It was all such a whirlwind, I focused on appointments and what I needed to do at each point, then healing and recovering. My priority was keeping things as 'normal' as possible for my kids and now I'm here at the start of years of hormone therapy and who knows what that'll bring. I've an appointment with my oncologist in a couple of weeks and I'm not sure what that'll entail, will it just be the first of many check ups? It's my first one since agreeing my treatment plan prior to my radiotherapy.

Friends and family have been supportive but then many people seem to think I'm all fine and recovered now, but it really doesn't feel that way to me.

How have others felt at this point? I'm hoping to connect with others in a similar place to me.

  • Hi

I've had a different cancer to you and can't answer your questions so I hope you don't mind me replying. By responding it will place your post back at the top where it may be seen by more members of your group. It may be worth giving your specialist nurse a ring as she may be able to suggest some help or even just let you know what to expect at the appointment. Do you have a Maggie's centre near you? They have courses and group sessions and these may help you meet women in similar situations. Best wishes for your next treatment.
