Hi everyone,
I had breast cancer in 2024 and am happily in remission. Of all the crap things that happened that year the part that freaked me put the most was the Zoladex injections. I cant even really explain it, they were nothing compared to the rest of my treatment plan, I just couldn't cope with them. Had to get hubby to stab me every time but not before I'd had a full meltdown anticipating it. Even the thought of those injections makes me feel ill.
Fast forward to today and I'm doing much better. Haven't been on Zoladex for a year. I was thinking about asking my GP to put me on monjaro for weight loss as my BMI is over 30 and I know being overweight increases my odds of reoccurrence. Well I just saw a photo of the monjaro shot and it looks so much like the zoladex one then the blurb about rotating the area you inject. It brought me right back.
Is there anyone here on monjaro who can reassure me that it will be different to what injecting the zoladex was like? I don't want to sign up for the shot and then have a panic attack when I see it.
Thanks.
Hi Anjo
I can’t answer your question as I have neither had Zoladex nor Moujaro but didn’t want your post to go unanswered. Our Breast cancer forum is much busier and you may find it easier to get a response there.

Anjo I had zoledex injections for 10 years, and they are definitely the worst type of injection to have. Rather than an injection it is an implant, it injects a pellet into your tummy. That is why it is so sore. I haven’t had monjaro but I understand it is just like a normal injection with liquid. I think the injection looks big because you twist it to your dose, and keep it for next time. But shouldn’t be painful.
Hi I am also on Zoladex injections which I have to go for every 4 weeks but I have to have a nurse do them. The bruises I have been left with are horrible! I can say that with all my treatment I have also put on lots of weight and even though I am overweight , I asked my doctor if I could do the weight loss jabs and they are not allowed to give them out. Only if you meet the 5 points that meets their criteria. And I do not. So you would have to pay for them youself. Even though my oncologist has said that they support me doing them. I have spoken to people who have been on them and its onky a small injection nothing like the zoladex ones! X
