Hello everyone
I am a 39 years old mum of a 3,5 year old and an 11 month old. I found a tiny lump a few weeks ago and immediately told my GP. Turned out to be cancer with a tiny amount in my underarm lymph too. I am not triple negative and am estrogen positive so I’m now looking at chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and several years of hormone therapy.
has anyone been through or is going through a similar experience?
thanks so much
Hi
i can understand that totally, I hope the nurse can explain their reasoning to you. If you want any help with how the chemo makes you feel just let me know (if you are on the same ones of course)
I was prescribed sleeping pills but I’ve always had a bit of a problem with the idea of taking them, I don’t know why. They then gave me Melatonin which is natural and nowhere near as strong but does seem to help.
If you want to go down the sleeping pill route I’m sure your GP can give you something but otherwise try Melatonin from Holland and Barrett or somewhere similar - it may help to take the edge off a little. I’ve also found staying away from even one glass of wine helps. I do enjoy a glass some evenings but I’ve noticed even one just keeps me awake and also effects my mood x
Hi
was thinking of you, how are you getting on? X
Thanks so much for thinking of me. Well…quite a lot has changed! Had a really good talk with nurse on Monday. Then Tuesday had private consultation with the lead consultant at NHS hospital I’m under. He agreed that I should be having chemo first!!!! So it’s all changed now! I’m having chemo in January not surgery. I’ll have 6 lots every 3 weeks and then after that I’ll have mastectomy and axillary clearance, then radiotherapy. I feel much better knowing the chemo will tackle things first. Also had genetic testing done on Friday! He pushed it through for me! X
That is great progress! Do you know which chemo it is you’ll be having every 3 weeks? Is it called EC?
also great they’re getting the genetics test done, I also had that which came back negative. My mum also had one done which was also negative so ordinarily they would not have done one for me but because of her age they didn’t do one of the tests so I was able to have one due to that as they’ll run several different tests.. x
Hi. I haven't messaged you very recently. How are you!? I have finished radiation today. Having few weeks to get myself together and rest up and slowly going back to work. I will be officially out of treatment end of Feb. Starting zoladex soon. Fingers crossed I won't sweat my head off on it. X
It was ok, my skin wasn't too bad, a bit pink and tender, putting tons of cream and drinking lots of fluids. I m feeling tired today but I think it is everything together, emotions and the treatment, also my radio was very early at 8 am so I had to get up at 6:30 every day. I m going to think about you this Friday. I m sure everything will go smoothly. X
Hi- just hijacking a few months late, though I have been following this thread. Also diagnosed at 39 in December.
Had a scary day as originally told grade 2 and lymph node biopsy was clear. Pathology results today revealed macro in two lymph nodes and micro in two - they only took four. So full node clearance in four weeks (the wait is scaring me) also upgraded to 3.
just so so scared with the node involvement and aggressiveness and now being sent for CT scan- can feel pains in lower back so thinking the worst. I never sleep.
two young kids abd devastated for them.
Hi
I’m glad you connected - as you know I also had lymph node involvement and had my surgery just yesterday for full clearance. It also freaked me out that it had gone there.
mare you going to be starting chemo also?
I remember when I had my CT scan I couldn’t stop shaking as I found it terrifying until I got the results. How long will you need to wait? Xx
