Good evening all, I finished my Chemo in October and quickly had a mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction in November. I finished radiotherapy at the end of January and still on Herceptin. Was wondering if anyone experienced armpit discomfort and breast discomfort after they finished all their treatment.
Thank You, Claire xx
Hi Claire,
I had DIEP reconstruction in September last year. I did not have breast discomfort but I definitely had armpit discomfort for some time. It still aches when I get cold. ( It was under the armpit where they took more lymph nodes out ) It also took me a bit of time for the nerves to sort themselves out.
All is fine now, and I hope and am sure, things will settle down for you soon too. I think they say it takes a year for things to feel completely normal.
Take Care, and with love,
Sukki xx
Hi
Yes i still get discomfort and i have my mastectomy over a year ago. It comes and goes, when i spoke to my breast care nurse about it she said it can be the after effects from radiotherapy and to take ibuprofen.
I also started with cysts a couple of months ago which were a bit scary but i contacted my breast care nurse again and they got me in, i had a mammogram and ultra sound scan and told nothing to worry about. So i would say if you have any worries ring your breast care nurse and speak to her about it. Get it checked out even if its just to put your mind at rest xx
