Masectomy

Hi, I live is Scotland so I'm not sure if all the same rules apply (they are ran by different parliaments) but mastectomy's are still going ahead at the moment. I'm going into surgery tomorrow for mine however they aren't able to offer reconstruction until after the virus has died down. Has your doctor given you any timescale?

                 I’m in England spoke to breast care nurse yesterday and she said my surgery will definitely go ahead just when? At the moment they’re still doing surgery at the hospital but talks of it going to the private hospital so might be there. Going to phone tomorrow and speak to my breast care nurse. Can’t think of anything else it’s all so surreal. Glad you’re getting your surgery tomorrow wishing you all the best

Aw that's good then hopefully it won't be too long to wait! They said that to me too it was just whatever hospital had space first, private or not.

Yeah maybe give them a call, how long have you been waiting if you don't mind me asking?

Did they say the same to you about the reconstruction?

I know it's been awful with so much time to think about it, just try to stay positive and keep yourself busy as much as possible.

That' the timescale they gave to me too and I got my appointment within the two weeks.

Hi Claire, 

             Yes the surgeon told me she couldn’t offer me reconstruction due the Covid. For me just want all the cancer gone and will deal with that later. Just want my treatment  like everyone else. Know I’m not alone and that everyone is worried and scared.

Yeah same for me, just get the mastectomy and then deal with the reconstruction once the madness has died down a bit. 

It's a very surreal situation that nobody thinks they are going to be in, hope you get your appointment soon.
