Insomnia

Hi guys

I had my fourth round of eight of EC Chemothrapy on Friday and I am struggling with sleeping. For the first few days after chemo I'm exhausted and sometimes nap through the day for about an hour. But after the first few days I stop napping through the day but can't sleep at night. I either fall asleep straight away and I'm up and down throughout the night or i just can't get to sleep till early hours of the morning. Ie...Last night I didnt fall asleep until 12.15am but was up twice through the night and couldn't sleep after 5.50am this morning. I'm going to try Nytol but was wondering if anyone had any other tips with dealing with this problem.

Thank you in advance

    Hi

Could be the steroids you take for the first few days are upsetting your sleep rhythm and having a knock on effect when you stop them ?

What time of day are you taking the last one as it can play havoc getting to sleep if this is after 3pm ?

  • Hi Dreamthief

I currently only have steroids on the morning of my chemotherapy then one in the morning and lunchtime of the following day.

    Thanks

  • Hi Moffgirl,

    I remember the Insomnia well.

My friend who was going through this the same time as me got prescribed sleeping pills from her gp.

(I didn't use any because I'm a single parent so i didn't want to be out like a light on sleeping pills and not hear my child if i was needed in the night)

But maybe prescription sleeping pills could be an option for you?

    Take care
