Hi,

I’ve just completed 4 rounds of ec and am due to start 4 rounds of paclitaxel this coming Thursday, I was wondering if anyone could shed any light or advice on it? I know all people are different but I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on anything I can do before hand to reduce symptoms? I’m very nervous as I don’t know what to expect. Thank you in advance for any replies xx

Hi i am on weekly paclitaxel. Is still chemo so just the same as EC.try to avoid people with cold and flu, drink lot and so.

I am having bad skin reactions so I am using cream prescribed by my GP and my nails turned blue purple for that I am using Vaseline healthy hands and stronger nails cream and its helping.Otherwise I have no side effects.

But dont forget everybody is different you dont have to have skin problems. My skin is very delicate I am even using a special dressing for the Picc line.

    Good luck

Make sure you get strong pain killers from your GP, I got naproxen. Also paint your nails a very dark colour - this saved my nails. Try a walk.as much as you can too.

Good luck - you'll be fine

  • It's better to use Evonail on your nails.  My toes were painted a very dark blue,  and towards the end of thr first EC were turning yellow when I took off the polish.  I've used Evonail (women on the main BC board recommended it in the chemo thread) and my nails survived thr chemo, but did go a bit darker near the quicks after my zoledronic acid infusion.  You need to keep doing it for at least 6 weeks after chemo ends as it takes 2-3 months to clear your system.
