Hi ladies, I'm a newbie here. I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer grade 2 in November and have since had a mri and bone scan and ct scan. I had a mascetomy on the 20th Dec and a sentinel lymph node biospy taken as well.
I'm really struggling with recovering from the mascetomy. I have the predicted muscle and nerve discomfort but am still ten days on absolutely shattered. I get up for a while potter make lunch perhaps a short walk but then have to lie down and sleep. I used to have M.E and it feels like that again, achy and flu like.
My wound is healing well no infection, I wondered what other peoples experience is like as I would really like to start to pick up for the next step of my treatment..
Thanks
Hi Ladymel welcome to the forum.
I hope that you dont mind me saying but it is only 12 days since your op and that is very early days yet to recover from such a big op.
Your poor body has been through the mill and you have had major surgery which will take time to heal and with that will come some energy but right at this point in tie its rest for you and take it easy.
It could be sometime yet before you feel remotely human again so be kind to yourself. and take it easy.
Thank you Gail, it's difficult when everything is so new and also I've noticed that as soon as I have been getting dressed people think.. Oh she's up and dressed she must be better and the demands of life.. Children on Christmas holidays etc start to creep back quickly..
I should of remembered that from my ceasaran days.. Keep in those pyjamas!
Hi ladymel
like you I had a mastectomy but just the one breast after reoccurrence of the same cancer. I’d also speak to your gp/me specialist or nurse to ensure it’s not reared it’s ugly head again. Remember having had me will also potentially extend your recovery time. Stick to the pjs and just get checked about the me. Remember it is major surgery and don’t go over doing it as ultimately no one will thank you for it.
takr care and sending you hugs xx
Hi
Glad you are healing well. I think 10 days is still very early days yet. When I have my mastectomy I was hardly out of bed for the first two weeks as I was being sick due to the antibiotics. So I think you are doing brilliantly.
My nurse told me the body uses up a lot of energy trying to heal so rest when you feel like it.
Good luck with you recovery Tina x
