Anyone out there had IMAP surgery???

  • What does IMAP surgery stand for?  Sorry to ask..   Even if  I have not had this, I might be able to point you in the direction of someone who has had it..

It’s not a common procedure but it’s for breast reconstruction (using your own body tissue).
    Internal mammary artery perforator (IMAP).

  •  I have not had IMAP, but I have had reconstruction using own body tissue.  I had Diep, using fat from my tummy.  I am really pleased, personally, that I used my own body tissue.  It really feels like me, and is warm etc.  I also gained sensation in the breast area really quickly, nothing like before, - but it does not feel like a strange thing is in me.  The recovery period was much quicker than I had expected.

Anyway, sorry that I can't help with the specifics of IMAP, but happy to answer any questions about using own body tissue..

Take care, and good luck with whatever you decide to do.
