Ok so here is the lowdown on my chemo experience
in the ward for 3 hours in total and this is how it was spent
Cold cap - knowing that I may experience hair loss I spent some time styling hair this morning. Waste of time!!!
The nurse sprayed my newly straightened hair with cold water and slipped on the conditioner (something to consider - the nurse asked if I had bought my own conditioner as some people prefer a certain brand - but I hadn’t so hospital had Simple to use anyway. - also asked me to bring a headband for next time
then the cap which looked like- I can’t explain (hubby said I was rocking the look- I can’t imagine how sexy I looked
i was imagining a swimming cap but no . Anyway I’ll add later if I find a word for it
It wasn’t tight enough so they had to get a smaller one - that felt great as I can’t remember the last time I tried something on and had to request a size below!!!
when it was good and tight I then had a cover put on top - it was bright pink and now I looked like I had a large riding hat on!!
lastly then they put cotton wool pads on my ears and forehead to avoid frostbite!!!!!
i can honestly say although it was freezing cold After about 10 mins I didn’t really notice it but I did have the brain freeze pain
this was lucky as was on constantly for 2 hours
when the nurse turned it off she then left me to defrost for 10 minutes!! Defrost!!!
she took the cap off and got hubby to take a photo of my hair covered in ice crystals!!!!
then had to run to car in rain with wet semi defrosted hair as forgot woolly hat
im doing it again next time and every time if/while they help with hair loss!!!
i am a little tired now but tomorrow I will note the actual chemo and the shock when my wee looked like tided!!!
