I just joined here. I was diagnosed with breast cancer the dqy before yesterday, didn't feel a lump, just had an inverted nipple. I am mainly calm and positive but i have my moments. I'm 35 from West Wales.

  • Hi ,

Welcome, so sorry you find yourself here. However you are in the right place.

It can be terrifying when diagnosed. At least you will now be on the way to getting the treatment you need.

I found a lump late July last year, thought nothing of it. We went away in the end of August, I thought maybe it had got bigger but wasn’t sure, I’d had cysts before, I knew I was seeing a nurse in September so told her about it and the rollercoaster began!

I didn’t think for a minute it would be cancer, so I basically left it 3 months before doing anything, my breast nurse was great and said, it doesn’t matter, your here now!

I was calm when the surgeon told me it was BC, infact he said, “Do you understand what I’m telling you?” I said, “ Yes, you’re telling me I have Breast Cancer!”

We all have our moments, I think I had more than my fair share of “Moments”, however lots of lovely ladies on here to share with, ask questions, advice, rant, vent and try to smile with too.

Do you know what type of BC you have yet?

Pls let us know how you are getting on x

  • Hi Empathetic Emerald,

I was diagnosed 7 weeks ago and I am age 47 with a 4 year old daughter. I felt so numb and in shock the first few days wanting to carry on working trying to be normal as I didn’t feel ill and was all over the place crying etc  my emotions were all over the place and I still have my good and bad days. My journey has been quick so far due to private health insurance but I am feeling ok and coping and you will too.

This community will really help as there are so many people who have been on this journey or are like us just starting the journey or mid way through and being able to scream, shout or cry on here really helps to let it out. People’s replies are of great support reassurance and advice but most of all they care about what you are going through.

    Sending you lots of hugs.

    Love Netty xxxx

    Hi

so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  I got diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in March this year after finding a small lump.

I understand how hard it is right now.  It was such a hard time after being diagnosed but waiting for so many answers, but it will get easier once you have a plan of treatment.

I had a lumpectomy in April and gave just finished six sessions of chemotherapy over nearly 5 months and due to have 20 sessions of Radiotherapy starting in October in Singleton, Swansea.

I noticed that you are from West Wales and I am from Lampeter. I realised that it can be a very lonely time and there are not many local support groups offered here in such a rural area. My surgeon was in Llanelli Peony Breast Clinic and he was wonderful and I had my chemotherapy in Bronglais, Aberystwyth.

I am happy to talk if ever you need anything xx

    Hi

Firstly, it’s good joining groups like this. I am an introvert type of person who would rather settle issues on my own. But being diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer for me was a life changing experience. It turned my life upside down. I had to reach out to some people to help me get through the emotional rollercoaster!

What my oncologist said that calmed me somehow was that breast cancer is one of the easiest form that is treatable and with very good prognosis..

We’re here to listen and support on how it’s going on for you . For now here is lots hugs Hugging
