I noticed a few weeks ago In July that my left breast is bigger/heavier than my right breast. I hadn’t noticed this before. When I feel on my breast I feel lumps, I’ve been to my GP on a few occasions and they’ve examined me give me the same answers, that it’s normal for 1 breast to be bigger and to have more tissue or lumpy-ness, I can still feel a certain lump in the bigger breast and it’s driving me insane, somedays it feels like my breast is getting bigger and somedays it feels normal. When I keep touching or feeling on the lump it starts to feel tender. I’ve been looking online and they say it’s normal for a breast to be bigger than the other but I’m not sure if it’s always been this way or if it’s just happened? My GP said I don’t need to be transferred to the hospital but they aren’t giving me much to go on let alone give me rest. I’m also 21 by the way.

I have another appointment in a few weeks and I need them to take me serious and understand where how this is effecting me.

If anyone could help me that would be amazing. I’ve been looking a breast cancer symptoms online and they say you’re nipples go inwards, My nipples are pierced so would that cause the nipple to not sink in?

From my last post I’ve been literally driving myself insane trying to find answers.

  • Hi tians97,

I’m sorry that you’re feeling worried.

I know I was extremely anxious waiting for results. There were signs all around the hospital waiting rooms saying that 9 out of ten lumps they biopsy are not cancerous. Unfortunately, mine was, but far more people were getting good news on that day than bad. Breast can be lumpy, but that doesn’t always mean the worst.

That said, people of all ages can develop cancer. Are there any other reasons that you may be more concerned, like a close relative having cancer? If so, it may be worth mentioning that to your doctor.

My GP did refer me straight away (he said the threshold for referral was really low) but I planned to go privately if he hadn’t, as I wanted to either have peace of mind or start dealing with cancer. I’m sure I was quoted around £100 for a private check.

If you’re not satisfied with your GP, you could always ask to see a different doctor to get a second opinion?

    Best wishes,

    Sarah.
