Hi Ladies,
I've recently had two lumpectomys and am seeing oncologist next week about starting radiotherapy. Apart from the pain and swelling and general feeling of yuck, I've also been told to stop taking my HRT medication - I'm 46 and had a hysterectomy a few years ago and was told I needed to take it as I was under 50. My issue is that I'm having major trouble sleeping and the night sweats/hot flushes are just getting worse and worse.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? And if so, did you find a solution? Am knackered and just feeling really down with it all :-(
Hiya i can't really help you with the HRT as my treatment has been totally different to yours. This group is fairly quiet so i would recommend you posting in the Breast Cancer Group as there are more people who go into there.
The only other thing i would suggest is to give your breast care nurse a ring and tell her whats happening, she will be able to give you advice in what to do, if she doesn't know she will speak to your oncologist for you and let you know what they say.
You don't need to be suffering or feeling poopy about something that hopefully has a easy solution.
Take Care
Thank you for replying! Will do - I know that there's probably not much that I can do, but it helps to hear from other folks too I think :-)
Hi ,
Mention it to your oncol when you go. Have you had your results back? I was just wondering if you were told to stop the HRT is it because the cancer was hormone receptive. I was told to stop taking my contraceptive pill as mine as hormone driven.
Hiya, I completely know how you feel, I had a lumpectomy in October last year. I then had radiotherapy for 10 days. I was on HRT for four years and my results came back that I had tested positive for hormonal receptors so now can't go back on HRT. I have really bad sweats day/ night so bad I took a picture and showed my gp, I feel irritated and fed up. I'm seeing my oncologist in February to discuss my options. I'm so tired from radiotherapy that I sleep sometimes 14/15 hours straight. I'm hoping the oncologist can recommend an alternative to stop sweats, I was on colondine amd it didn't work for me.
