Hi I am one week after surgery after having had a wide excision to remove a lump and some lymph nodes. Today I have just found a little lump about an inch away from my surgery scar. Obv going to get in touch with breast care nurse but does this mean the whole process starts again....?

Hello you're doing the right thing ringing your breast care nurse.

When do you go get results from your lumpectomy? i think i got mine in 4 weeks. If it is anything to worry about they will tell you then, but you need to think you have had surgery and it could just be some tissue thats been disturbed during the op.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to think the worse until you know it's something to worry about.

Let us know how you get on Fingers crossed

Thank you results are not for another two weeks from the original surgery. Just wondered if they’d wait until then or if they’d now biopsy and ultrasound this new one I’ve found while I’m recovering from the surgery? I’ll phone tomorrow and hopefully get a reply. Thank you

  • Hi ,

Defo speaking to breast nurse is best. After my mastectomy I had a small, can’t really say lump, but I could feel something, it turned out to be the internal stitches, maybe different for a lumpectomy I don’t know, but try not to worry, could be scar tissue.

Hope you get it sorted x

Hi I had the full works this morning. Saw breast nurse who gowned me up then saw consultant who sent me for an ultrasound. Apparently it’s a reactive lymph node I’m guessing working harder to help the scar heal. It’s still there but hoping it will go as the healing continues.

  • Thats good news then hun, so pleased it wasn’t anything more sinister.

Just goes to show it’s best to go and see your care team as it can certainly put your mind at rest x
