So I had my mastectomy with full lymph node clearance on Friday just gone.

The surgery went well all things considered however it turns out I don’t “do” general anaesthetic. Ended up having to spend two nights in hospital.

Interesting comment from the surgeon. He had previously suggested that the surgery could be postponed and have chemo first, however the day after the surgery he said I had made the right choice to have the surgery first.

Main problem I’m having now is struggling to sleep. It’s currently only really comfortable sleeping on my back, only issue is that gives me a bad back :-(

Anyway, onwards and upwards, should know the next steps on the 22nd or 29th May, depending on results of the tests on what they removed.

Hiya i had a mastectomy 5 weeks ago with immediate reconstruction using the muscle from my back.

As you can imagine it was uncomfortable to lay on my back but i found laying on a V pillow helped. I actually managed to sleep for 2 weeks laid on my back, in a slight raised position. I also places one side of the V pillow under the arm i had had the lymph nodes removed from and it cushioned my side when laid down.

Have you tried using more pillows? i had 4 in total and sloped them so i had support on every part of my back.

    HI

Thanks for your suggestions. Finally got a decent night's sleep last night by laying on my "good" side and propping myself up on pillows Grinning
