Hi all,
I have just joined this site tonight, you know what it's like you get something about your treatment in your head and want it answered now, but I fear, I may actually have to wait for an answer anyway... but here I will just put it out there!
I was diagnosed with BC in April 2017,have Diep flap recon in June 2017, and am just plodding along now. Fortunately I didn't require chemo or rads so I count myself extremely blessed. But I am on Zoladex 28 day injection and Letrozol for 5 years.
I am a stickler for rules so if it says 28 days I am there exactly every 28 days having my jab. I'm 10 months into this regime and coping well, however come July I have a work commitment which means me working in another part of the country when I am due my zoladex injection. I'm self employed but can't really afford to turn down the work after having taken so much time off in 2017/18. My question is this,
Does anyone know if I can arrange to have my injection given by a different practice? I always pick up my injection to take to the DR's every month so I would have it anyway.
I also have a second question, my husband has said he would be more than happy to learn how to give me the injection so that I don't have to keep on going to the drs every 28 days, does anyone know if it is possible to be trained to give the injection? I feel no pain in my abdomen due to the diep, so he can't hurt me.
Anyway... just putting this out there... will most likely phone my BC nurse next week, but thought I'd give this a go.
thanks so much you amazing wonderful warriors
Hi
i had zolafex for 3 years and had it done by the nurse as I found it pretty painful. However, my daughter is currently on zoladex too and has no problem injecting herself. She gets 2 months at a time from the gp and stores it in the fridge herself. Her nurse recently told her it didn’t have to be dead on 28 days, as long as it doesn’t go over. So, you don’t need any training to do it. Just being brave, I was a chicken lol
good luck

Hiya,
I had zoladex for 8 months whilst I waited for my ovaries to be removed. I can't remember why but there was one time I couldn't make the appointment and I was told by my onc that there was a little bit of time gap - the 28 day did not have to be exact. I think it was given the week later.
Can't see any reason why someone couldn't be trained to do it.
Cwtches,

Hi,
I have a Letrazole injection which is done by the nurse at my GP's practice,
I used to have it every 4 weeks, however I now have it every 12 weeks. Not all surgeries offer this, but if they do it saves going so frequently! Although it is a much bigger needle and hurts more than the 4 weekly one, Perhaps this could be an option at you GP?
