    Hi Lisa

    (big hugs firstly)

this group is really good, but can be slightly quieter.. the actual Breast cancer group is busier (sorry...  not sure how to put a link on.. sure someone will be along shortly who can do!)

ive only been diagnosed a few weeks, waiting for chemo to start but have found both of the groups really friendly, welcoming and no questions is a silly question... just be aware that all hospitals work slightly differently! Even if you just want a ‘rant’ it’s ok ... everyone’s going through the same so understands xxx

Hiya sorry i only just saw this. I found this site brilliant for support and advice.

Lots of people have supported me on good days and bad days, being here has definitely helped me and i have made friends i will cherish forever. I find talking to people who get you and are either going through the same or have been through the same.

The is the link for the Breast Cancer Group  mentioned, it has a few more people there.

Take Care and keep talking to us.

    Hi Lisa and Claire,

welcome aboard but sending you massive hugs that you’re also going through this.

Nice been a bit rubbish at posting on here recently but as someone who is now 8 years into remission and was diagnosed aged 38. I had the works; mastectomy; reconstruction; chemo; radio; second reconstruction (the first one encapsulated); and even a nipple tattoo so hopefully can help you with any questions; fears or concerns you have.

My personal advice is that whilst it’s scary; be vocal in how you’re going to fight it. I’m a huge believer in positive mental attitude. Not in a we can beat this by praying and chanting kind of way; but if you keep your self as positive as you can and even try find some (dark) humour in the situation, I do believe it will help you to cope mentally.

Lots of hugs to you both. Xx

  • Hi

Hope you are doing OK. I have just been diagnosed for a second time aged 45 so I understand the whirlwind.

    Xx

  • Hi Lisa,

Sorry about your diagnosis. You are definitely in the right place though. Although it is quieter on this site, I find this site easier to follow as I only get on here every couple of days.

Someone will usually be able to point you in the right direction. I would say if you have a Macmillan Unit close by, go and have a chat with them, they are brilliant. I only nipped in for one thing, came out with a relaxation cd, cookery book and information on complimentary therapies and the Look Good, Feel Better day.

Please keep in touch. Gentle Hugs Tina x x

  • Just wondered how you were doing?

    Hi Tina

    Thanks for touching base

As of yesterday I now feel like I am getting somewhere. Had all the normal scans which were thankfully clear of any other instances. Unfortunately they confirmed that the original lump is about 4cm and behind the nipple so a mastectomy with full lymph gland clearance is a must. Thing is the NHS can’t get me in for surgery until mid-June so I have decided to go private. Now booked in for op on 10th May with delayed reconstruction so treatment will start roughly eight weeks after getting my diagnosis.

    Fingers crossed tone1Fingers crossed tone1

  • Hi Lisa, I sent you a private message. Hugs Tina x x
