Grade 2 breast cancer - going through further tests at present

Hello,

I had 2 ultrasounds, on both they said it was just dense breast tissue and there was no concerns at all but one of the nurses said just as a precaution we should do a biopsy. The biopsy results came back and they said it’s grade 2 breast cancer, lobular. I went in for an MRI and they said it shows it has spread throughout my breast so I will need a mastectomy. The MRI showed 6cm of ‘abnormal tissue mass’ which is going up to my nipple (my nipple is inverted and has been for a while)

I have further tests coming up, to determine the stage and treatment plan. I will have a guided biopsy (first time they went in blind as they had no concerns) a mammogram and to check if it has spread to my lymph nodes.

apparently this cancer was hiding and was not detectable on an ultrasound.

I am petrified, I am 35 and have 2 young kids.

I guess I just want to know if anyone has been through similar, and can offer any guidance or advice? Even though I have some information, I still feel like I’m in the unknown and my mind is going mad. I have no idea if it’s spread and what stage this will be classed as.

Welcome to the Forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on the Breast Cancer and Triple Negative Breast Cancer Forums and I help out in the other forums if I can.  I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I've been diagnosed with breast cancer twice, the second time my cancer was hiding near my right nipple which made it a little bit hard to find.

Breast Cancer is very treatable these days, both times I had lymph node involvement and after having surgery and treatment I made a full recovery and I have been cancer free for over two years. Just take each day as it comes and try and keep yourself busy while waiting for results and a treatment.  Your medical team will do everything in their power to make sure that you come out of the other side of this.  I suggest that you also join the Breast Cancer Forum where you will also find lots of support .  Here's the link: Breast cancer forum .

Wishing you the best of luck with the results of your tests and with whatever treatment you may need.

    Best wishes.
