Bleeding Gums and very sore finger/nail tips

Hello all,

I am on my secind cycle with EC for breast cancer.

Admist other side effects of feeling very weak and tired. I am experiencing bleeding gums , although using a soft bristle brush with biotene toothpaste.

Also, very painful tips of fingers. It is so painful that a very simple rub against anything is very painful. Has anyone experienced this? any suggestions or remedies?

I found sore nails and finger tips were neuropathy. It just settles with time. I’d let your chemo nurses know too. Try to moisturise your hands and nail beds. Don’t get them wet - use gloves for washing up etc. hope it settles for you and you start to feel your self quickly in this cycle.

Hi SR1 sorry to hear you’re suffering. I had EC & was lucky to not get any side effects but I have been told sore mouth is very common. Speak to your oncology nurses or BCN and ask for the special mouthwash. And as zephyr says, let them know about the finger tips , it might be they can adjust the dosage or give you something for the pain. Hope it gets easier x
