Hi all,

Is there anyone out there who’s BRAC2 positive and had the risk reducing surgery? Started the referral process today to the breast surgeons. 100% confident it’s the right decision but so nervous. Hoping to reach out to someone in my position.

Thank you,

Hanana

  • Blimey that's long! I only got my BRCA results in August and referral went quickly. I could have had it before Christmas and the option of a cancellation, but I want to get my holiday and Christmas out of the way (as well as having the opportunity to prepare work stuff for my absence and my phased return to duties). My sister and I only reconnected 2 years ago, 2 months before her dx. The universe works in mysterious ways. Sending you and your sister hugs and strength x

  • I too found out I was a carrier of Braca2 through my daughter breast cancer. I had ovaries and fallopian tubes removed and cancer was discovered in one fallopian tube. I went on to have a full hysterectomy and although no tests or scans were showing anything abnormal, they discovered cancer in the lining of my womb. Now having  adjuvant chemo in case there is anything else!  Next step is to see the breast surgeon, very unsure of the need for breast surgery. I guess he will outline the risks, looks like I am your age born in 1954.
