I have been currently on the waiting list for 2 years waiting for a preventive masectomy. However, my breast became swollen. I left it to see if it was going down it was but in the back of my head I knew I should get it checked out. I did. They thought it was a fibrodenoma it was movable the swelling was going down. But unfortunately turned out to be grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. Exactly what my mum had when she died when I was 7.
Due to coronovirus they were putting preventive masectomys on hold. And this has what has happened. So glad I took out health insurance because of the BRAC1 if you do have this gene please the best thing I done was take out health insurance. NHS waiting times are ridiculous. I had a masectomy 2 weeks after them telling me the results through my health insurance. The best thing I ever did! I feel I am in safe hands. However, the mind goes into overdrive.
I am waiting for my results from the surgery as they removed 2 lymph nodes also. Depending on the results I might have to have more surgery to the lymph nodes.
But either way due to the cancer being triple negative I HAVE to have chemo.
I received a letter from the NHS saying sorry and they are investigating this as I should have had a preventive masectomy in this time I was waiting before I got cancer.
Sorry for the long essay.
Oh dear. I was thinking it would have been around 15k. I was waiting 2years and then unfortunately got diagnosed with BC
