Hi there,
It's been over two years since I found out I had the BRCA1 mutation so I may be a bit foggy on the protocol - hoping you can help.
I've spent the last two years processing my options re preventative surgery and feel I'm ready to take start the journey but how do I get back in touch with my genetic counselor? I tried to e-mail the address she used two years ago but it appears to be out of use (maybe she retired) and the information on their website says that only medical professionals can contact them directly - do I need to go through my doctor again?
Thanks in advance!
Hi
I don't have any experience of talking to a genetic counsellor myself but I noticed that your post hadn't had any response from the members of this group.
If you no longer have a direct contact with the counsellor then I would think your best bet would be to speak to whoever referred you originally, eg GP, consultant, nurse, etc and they should be able to put you back in touch.
Wishing you all the best
