My husband died in my arms on the 2nd May (2009) - what happens now?

My husband - Chris - died on the 2nd May 2009 because he had anal cancer. He knew he was going and we spoke about lots and lots of things before he died. That is why I am just not prepared for the huge amount of guilt I feel now. I feel guilty that the world hasn't stopped turning round even though he has died. I feel like everything should stop as a mark of respect. I also feel very guilty that he had to be so ill he had to die. What a cruel cruel thing it is to make someone so ill their body just stops working. I wasn't ready for him to go. I really really hope these are normal feelings because I must hang on to my sanity for the sake of my 3 children. I have never known sadness like I feel right now. I can't believe that I will not hear his voice or feel his touch again. We were married for almost 32 years and I have known Chris for 34 years - since I was 16. What happens now? Ailsa

Ailsa I hope you have a good time. Go girl.

Aww Judi, sending a super duper comforting duvet and surrounding you with big angel hugs. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you hun.

Lynne, NEVER feel guilty for trying to get on with your life. Tut tut tut, have you forgoten everything I taught you about coping strategies?? If you have a chance to go away and spend time with others (and feel you would like to) then go guilt free.(Need someone to carry your bags??)

Dottee had a go with the paintbrush and glitter glue suggestion. What a lovely result. Thanks for the tip.

Helen, Sue, Esme, Fiona, Gayle, Kaz (if you are watching) and anyone I may have missed (coz I have lost the plot now) have a good day tomorrow.

This evening I have occupied myself with decoupage. Not done it for ages and not very good at it but hey, it is something to do.  I also decided in a moment of madness to give the oven a good clean. What on earth was I thinking.  I had to wait until the evening because I was using the oven to cook the evening meal for me and my son. Beef casserole and dumplings mmmm.........  even have some left so gonna freeze it for another day.

    Love and angel hugs x x Patricia x x

Lynne, all you have to do is put a casserolke in the oven on a low light and leave it in all day. Then when you get home just pop in some dumplings for 20 mins. Almost as quick as a ready meal but much healthier and tastier and then put whatever is left in containers and freeze for another day. Simples. AND.. if you don't want the hassle of washing the container you could cook it in disposable aluminium ones. Oooh yes.... I know all the tricks lol.

    Nice pic Sue x

Have a good day. Love and angel hugs x x Patricia x x

Evening all , well Patricia you've made me realise the error of my ways , i promise when i go shopping i will buy stuff to make casserloes next week , i did used to cook , honest , but i cant see the point for 1 , and i do cook for the kids at the weekend . I will get my slow cooker out and get cracking on sun , chopping preparing , and throwing everything in my cooker , your right it is healthier xx

Well Benidorm is booked again , its cost 66pound (flights and self catering ) i cant say no really , its only mon to fri again , but it will be a break from this bad weather . Big sis just got back today and she says its still really warm over there so hopefully things wont change too much in 10 days . Thanks for encouraging me everybody xx Whats everybody up too . Rain is bad here tonight xx
