Just how the `other half lives`. As you say it would be wonderful if we could all live like that everything fetched and carried for us and doctors nurses specialists on tap giving you the best treatment going as possible. You have a wee rant my love and just get it all out your system myself and many others will probably be thinking the same thing.

Indeed. Rant away -  I am still furious that Charles Windsor and Kate Middleton went from diagnosis to treatment in about 2 days. They made my husband wait 87 days by which time the cancer had spread so he became palliative and had to wait another 2 months for different chemo. 

Aww that is just awful.  I mentioned the princess Kate thing to someone else and they said well of course it wouldn't be the same level of care ... but why.  Kate is no more or less a person than our person .  Why didn't they get all the care.  I don't understand it.  I wonder if i met her (unlikely)  would i be able to not say "yes i know you've had treatment but you don't know how it feels at all.  You don't know the worry of are you getting the right treatment at the right time.  Am I looking after my husband and getting him everything he needs.  You don't know the panic"

For them they just need to literally snap their fingers and they come running. While us `plebs` need to wait and that worried me too for Jay. There were times he had to wait for treatment and everytime that happened, I constantly visioned his cancer was spreading. As I keep repeating if he had been given precautionary post chemo or radiotherapy- whether it was needed or not it may just have made a difference and he just might still be here but instead whatever was obviously still there was left to fester and grow again and became secondary and lead to him becoming terminal when nothing else could be done. People like the Royals on the other hand would have had all their treatment done `yesterday` (right away).

I guess it's the same disease but a whole different world of treatment. They will have the same symptoms and the same worries and fears, but not the anxious waiting for appointments and treatments. They won't be told 'no more treatment, palliative care only' in a telephone consultation with an unfeeling consultant. But on the other hand we have the NHS, we have care available no charge, and in David's case the wonderful amazing hospice staff who treated him with such dignity and care. There will always be huge discrepancies in life, but I believe the harsh but true bottom line is that cancer can take any life, rich or poor. 

That is true the bottom line is the same. Cancer doesn't discriminate.  Its the path that's different.   Our's wasn't paved with gold unfortunately.

My husband was lucky enough to work for a company who provided great benefits one of them being private health care, the difference was big he had already had two rounds of chemo before we got an appointment with oncologist and we saw our consultant every 2 weeks could speak to him at any time by phone and had 3 specialist nurses who were always available and amazing. He was given 3 to 6 months and went on for 2 and a half years and they threw everything they could at him, he had 55 rounds of chemo.  His stays in hospital were very comfortable and I could stay with him, at the end of his life nothing was too much trouble and we had a huge room where family and friends could come and visit, à la carte meals provided for us both - we did come home and the hospice took over but it was only for a couple of days and they were equally as special.  My Dad had his care at the same time with the NHS and though wonderful did not have the standard of care and accessibility or availability of care that my husband did - his care was so different from the normal it was shocking really.

To be honest I have only read snippets now and again about Kate Middleton. I do believe she is a Lovely Lady ,with much the same qualities as Princess Diana.    And it must be scary for her too to go through cancer . But I agree the care ,treatment and attention given to those with money, Private healthcare and privileged people should not be any better than anyone else. Sadly Governments do not put the amount of funding required to support the care and treatment of the ordinary Person suffering Cancer or any other chronic diseases or injuries. When my sister had Breast cancer over 26 years ago she was very lucky that her Husbands firm had BUPA as part of the package of his job. Which meant she got into Hospital for treatment very fast. And it probably gave her the chance of a very good recovery. And it is understandable to feel some resentment that our Spouses did not get the same and could possibly have lived much longer .And most importantly still be with us now. But as Spirit has said .. Cancer and all the other Horrible diseases do not Discriminate ...Any one of us can be taken by it .
