Grief is tough for me let alone our teenage son

Hi..

I lost my husband, Sean, to bowel cancer that spread to his liver, lymph nodes and bones in August 2020 at the young age of 49 years - we have a son, Bradley, who recently turned 18 - that was a tough day as Sean only wanted to make his 18th to buy him his first pint!!

I struggle every day since Sean passed away as I was on auto pilot caring for him at home during lockdown and watching him endure unbearable pain, sadness that he won’t be here to see milestones and our plans that won’t come to fruition- he often asked ‘why me, was I ever that bad?’ - he was the kindest, caring, most generous person and we miss him terribly- if there is a teenager who’d like to reach out, maybe we could get them in touch with each other?

When my son was in year 13, he too got behind in studies, got to a stage in his own grief for his dad and seemed to get to a bit of a halt. He ended up with poor A level results. But he got counseling at college and became very level headed. He obviously used these techniques when his stepdad died and was fine.

He went to uni through clearing, did two years, changed his mind, came home and got a very good job and is now saving very hard for his own house!

Doesn't matter how they do it but they get there! Ask college if they can help?

Hi Alison thanks for your reply your son has done amazing you must be so proud of your kids it's been hard for them

I think I will try and speak to someone at collage as I know my son will not he is very shy .he is enjoying collage but most of it's on line just now

I enjoy reading your post if that's the right word you are a great help to a lot of folk and cheery and like you I like to keep busy thanks again
