Worried about a rash on breasts

Not been to the doctors, but have a very large sporadic purple rash on left breast, and a tiny area on right. Really terrified about it, a little pain in breasts but more achey. I have a very big chest, so always had that really. It's more the rash I'm worried about. But sort of been putting it to the back of my mind.

  • Dear Norah Mabel,

Thank you for getting in touch with us and welcome to our Online Community. I’m Alison, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists who work on the support line here at Macmillan.

It’s understandable you’re worried about this rash and I’m glad you’ve reached out to us. With any new, persistent or worsening symptom it’s best to see your GP to be properly assessed. There are many other conditions that could cause rashes on your breast that aren’t cancer, but it’s still important to see your GP. Your GP may refer you to the breast clinic for further tests, but this doesn’t mean you have cancer. Most people referred to the breast clinic don’t end up with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

I hope this is helpful and if you need to ask further questions please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Take care,

    Alison,

    Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
