Hi Kirst1987
Thanks for getting in touch.
My name is Gemma, I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.
Welcome to the online community.
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing bloating post-surgery.
Here on the online forums, we are separate from the NHS and do not have access to your medical notes or NHS systems. So, if you have any new, increasing, or worsening symptoms after surgery it is always important to report these to your hospital team or GP. This allows them to make a full assessment and decide if you require medication or further investigations to manage these symptoms. They would want to hear from you and know if you are struggling.
Bloating and changes in your bowel movements can be part of the recovery process, it is common to experience issues after a hysterectomy for Ovarian Cancer.
Due to you having an ileostomy, we would advise you to contact your stoma nurse or GP for advice so symptoms can be resolved quickly and you can focus on your recovery.
After this a useful resource is Colostomy UK, It is full of information and has a 24-hour free helpline.
Our online community forums can be helpful to talk to others who have been through a hysterectomy and have shared experiences
I hope you find help to relieve your symptoms and get help if they persist or feel worse by contacting your team or 111.
Take Care
Gemma. Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
