Referral to MacMillan query

I was diagnosed with cancer on 11th Jan and have pet scan results now. Liverpool women’s hospital will discuss the case next Wednesday and put a treatment plan together. My question is, can anyone else refer me to MacMillan before then, for advice regarding pain management? I have a named oncology nurse at the local hospital where I was diagnosed. And my GP has prescribed morphine, but nobody seems to have the time to listen to me and help tighten up a pain management plan, which is currently ineffective.  I’m limping through each day, not wanting to go on.. I really need help with this now.

  • Hi ,

This is just a short message to let you know that I have moved your question over to our Ask a Nurse forum so you can get some advice from one of our qualified Cancer Information Nurse Specialists.

A member of the team will aim to respond to your question within 1 to 3 working days, but if you need any help of support before that, please don't hesitate to give our Support Line a call.

Our Macmillan Support Line can be reached on freephone 0808 808 00 00. The Support Line is open from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Just select the option to speak to one of our Cancer Information Nurse Specialists, and you will be connected as soon as the next one is available. You can also reach them by email or live webchat.

You can also speak to our Information and Support Team on the Support Line, if you just need a listening ear. They are always ready and waiting to provide emotional support as well as helping you with practical support options, too. Please do get in touch if you need them.

    All the best,
