Hello
I had a bowel resection 9 weeks ago. Since then I had one period which ended on 19 Sept. I have not had a period since then. Is this normal?
Regards.

Hi Angelous
Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to the Online Community. My name is Joanne and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.
I can see that you have joined the Bowel Cancer Forum and I hope that you are finding it useful.
I hope that you are recovering well from your Bowel cancer Surgery.
Missed or late periods can be caused by many things including stress.
Any type of surgery can cause hormone levels to become imbalanced. The body will sometimes release stress hormones such as cortisol which can then disrupt the balance of other hormones and cause a delay to your period.
We would always advise talking to your healthcare team about any changes to your health during and after your cancer treatment.
You can either speak to your surgical team or contact your GP.
If you would prefer to talk things through with one of the nurses, please do contact the Support line on 0808 808 0000
I hope this information is of some help.
Best wishes
Joanne
