Had enough of this site

Less than one minute read time.

Well..... When I joined,I thought how nice to join a site where we all have something in common, despite the horridness of it,I thought at last a site with no nastiness. Well... I wrote a cheery tongue in cheek story and some poetry, which lots pm'd me or commented how it cheered them taking their minds off cancer. BUT.... in the chat room I was castigated by 2 women,in open chat, who complained that it wasnt what blogs were for. I didnt agree, but removed anyway... I tried to enjoy the chat but it wasnt to be.. I was asked by several for more poetry,at the time I wasn't in the mood,in fact was getting quite despondent with the site, yesterday and today, feeling quite emotional,my writing surfaced, and I posted 8 poems, with a comment by Thomas admin, that hes developing a poetry corner. I now received a pm from Babscatt, that I am posting too much poetry, and she thinks I'm overdoing the blog..... So I have removed my work, and will just carry on,writing for myself. Cheerio, take care of yourselves, god bless Paul

Cancer in itself obviously makes folk emotional and hugely sensitive to the comments of others.    I know that I'm more likely to offer a knee-jerk reaction to often quiet innocent things that others might say or do.    We all need to take a deep breath here and remind ourselves as to why we're on this site in the first place.   Personally, I think we should be able to post as much or as little of what works for us - if it strikes a chord then others will read and respond accordingly.    From the overwhelmingly positive posts this is what has been happening here.   However, with 4000+ it's inevitable that there will be differences of opinion (which is all this seems to be).

Speaking as someone who has made their living for 12 years purely out of children's poetry, I think that a poetry corner is a great idea.     So, come on folks let's go with the flow .... creative or otherwise.    We all have our own way of dealing with this crappy disease.    We should joke, sing, write poetry or do whatever rocks our respective boats!    (Personally I'd like a rude jokes corner - of course, I don't know any/many myself??!!    Will have to ask Jools)

    Paul,

Please don't leave the site I love reading your blogs and poems, you sound like a wonderful person with a great big heart.

I am sure no-one on the site meant to upset you, it makes me sad that you feel this way when we are all here to support each other.

Somedays in our situations we are very sensitive, another day you may have been able to respond to comments with humour like

' I may be famous when my book gets published and you wont be moaning then, my blogs could be worth a fortune in 50 years!!!'

and the outcome would have been different.

I wanted to print your poems but can't find them now.

I even downloaded your Christmas animals video for my partners daughter who is 12.

Here's to some more poems from the heart please!!!

    Love

    Jo x

My Dear Paul, please keep blogging your heart lifting stories, I don't always read all of your poems but I have enjoyed a lot of them. We all at times feel as if the whole world is against us, but it isn't, I promise you. I've also loved talking to you in the chat room, you make me feel happy, you make me laugh. I do hope that all the positive comments that have been sent to you will confirm all I'm saying to you. God Bless. Love lindaj

Hi Paul - Oh please, please, don't stop putting your poems in - I LOVE 'EM!! If someone doesn't want to read them, then they need not! I will always read them, as I love poetry anyway - I did suggest a few weeks ago to James-admin that they look into opening a Poets Corner for us, so maybe it will materialise soon.  with lotsa love        kate xxxxxxxxxxx

    Paul,

Please know that I enjoy your company a great deal.  I'm saddened that people took you on in the chat room.  Had I been there as well, I wouldn't have tolerated it.  I understand you feel attacked and criticized and I don't presume to know the details on either side.  But I for one would miss you terribly.  I do wish however, that people would refrain from criticizing people's blogs.  If they don't like them, they don't have to read them.  They can move on to a blog they prefer.  Like TV, change the channel.  It needs to be a place where we can freely express ourselves with out worry.  Hang in buddy.  Best, Lori
