not coping

Less than one minute read time.
Hi,Everyone, I am not coping at all with this whole cancer thing.I am still so scared of the whole treatment process and I've only had one chemo session.Everyone is being so supportive but I feel they are are only doing it because of my cancer.I have found I have friends I did'nt know I had till all this happened, they all want to come to my my house for a cuppa,if they were my so called friends surely they could have come before I was ill.Any suggestions for coping with the sickness side of the chemo have tried four types of tabs and they did'nt work.Am I just been a whinger or do others feel the same way.Help.

Happy birthday to hubby and I hope you managed some food - even if it was just rice and noodles.  I wasn't sick with chemo, but felt it and half way through (cycle 4 & 5) that got worse, after that the occasional day.

On chemo days I made sure I had breakfast, I took either ginger beer or ginger bscuits to nibble, or crisps - for some reason I wanted something salty after chemo.  I always took my anti sickness meds as soon as I felt queasy and I kept a supply upstairs as well with a drink, so that if I woke early I could take one then.  My chemo nurse advised taking them as soon as I felt sick, but not to wait until I had been sick because then I would need different tablets.  That worked for me.  I also kept a diary in the early cycles to get an idea of which days I felt good and which days I didn't feel so good - and what I did to deal with it.  I always felt sick on the day of chemo and the next couple of days then nothing really, sometimes I would wake feeling sick and take a tablet.  If what you are taking doesn't work, tell you oncologist - there are lots of others you can take.

Like tiap said its more important to drink and keep yourself hydrated, as far as food eat whatever you like - my healthy eating went out the windows some days.

    Take care

Actually ate  a  couple of fork fulls of rice but that was it.Sucking ice lollies now and they seem to be helping as well.I hope I feel better tomorrow as it is my birthday, and I will be a very young 48 yr old!.Going to my daughter's for a birthday tea which will probably better than take aways.I absolutley love ginger in any shape or form and have tried eating it when i feel sick but even that has'nt worked. So i think i'll just stick to ice lollies.I was sick a couple of  hours after my first chemo and it's been 10 days that one, does it get better or worse as the treatment goes on.
