FREE PRESCRIPTIONS ENTITLEMENT

Less than one minute read time.

Hi all

I had no idea about prescription entitlements for cancer patients. how many know about this and use it?

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/DG_174084

going to see my GP on wednesday. if i am entitled then i will complain to the hospital who have never said anything about it...i have been paying the usual £7.20 an item and have been asked many times to get bandages etc so i can redress the wound at home...

hope everyone had a good weekend

If anyone's interested, it is different in Isle of Man. I have to complete a prescription exemption application form and discuss it with my Doctor.  The Health Service then assess it and decide if I'm eligible!  We pay the same NI contributions as the UK too!

hi everyone... i have the form and i am taking it back tomorrow.. the pharmacist next to the gp surgery has gotten to know me really well and has said she will try and get stuff i bought on prescption over the last few weeks refunded too. she always throws in extra swaps and dressings when she can and has been a godsend.

thanks every one for your help and advice.

i am at the dressings clinic today so i will suggest they put a BIG poster up about free prescriptions. a 10 pack of aquacel costs the NHS around £30... i was paying £7.20 for it and soon nothing.  how does the NHS survive?
