    Hi Peter,

I have been getting free prescriptions for the last 12 yrs. which is just as well as I have 13 items on each prescription. I live in Scotland and dont know if that has anything to do with it. But at £7.20 an item

its a hell of a lot of money, especially if you have a lot on your prescription.  Hope this helps you in some way. By the way I was told by my Dr the first time I was diagnosed with Cancer that all my prescription where free. Hope you have some luck in sorting yours out the next time you see your Dr or the Hospital.

Take care and be safe Sarsfield.

    Hi Peter

yes I was told straightaway and your nurse gives you a form you fill in and send off. All cancer patients are entitled to them, you recieve a card which entitles you to free prescriptions and last for five years. I made sure I got mine as its the ONLY thing I am entitled to!

    Regards

    Hi There

My partner has cancer and gets free prescriptions, we were only told by a friend about it because her husband has Brain cancer, not one medical professional told us about this, my partner gets them for 5 years, he had a heart attack 2 years ago and is on heart medication for the rest of his life yet he wasnt entitled to free prescriptions then, its like the Disabilty Living Allowance no-one told us about that either other than my friend, it certainly makes you wonder how many people are missing out on certain benefits doesnt it.

    Hi Peter,

I too have been receiving free prescriptions but only after I asked for them and my actual treatment was over!  I am in constant pain now and have prozac.  I didn't actually get offered anything free at the time of my ca. treatment and my husband and I ended up in quite a lot of debt, what with transport etc., but I am a little confused that I am now entitled to receive this free treatment post ca.  - maybe its because my treatment only finished a year ago.

I hope your leg's okay and you are resting in any event.  Ann
