    Dear Marianne

I believe Gefitnib was called Iressa and is, or has been, used with lung cancer patients - therefore it has already been through all the trials and so is 'safe'.  It is showing quite promising results for OC  - it seems better than for lung cancer.

You know what my feelings are about 'blind' and/or placebo trials for people in Tom's position.  However, I think that we might have thought differently if we knew what was coming.

I hope this helps a little.

Lots and lots of love to you both,

    Grace xxx

PS Perhaps worth seeking the thoughts about this drug from some on the lung cancer forums?

  • Hi Marianne

It’s just come to me where I’d heard of this trial before.  I remember right at the beginning of the year replying to Bev69 about her father taking this drug and how effective it seemed to be in stopping tumour growth.  In fact, I think he’d been on the trial for a few months at that time.  Here’s a link regarding the trial:

If Tom goes ahead with the trial I hope that it goes really well and I wish you both all the very best and lots of luck in whatever you decide.

    Love and Hugs

    Crystal xx

    Hi Marianne

I too have been looking into the COG trial as it's our Professor who's he reading it...prof ferry.  I too have read about Bev69 blog, it appeared that it was working for her father but then there are no other posts....don't know what the outcome was.

Again, have emailed Prof Ferry this morning about it, so will let you know what he says

Best luck with the decision you and Tom make
