This weekend I went away to celebrate one of my childhood best friends birthdays. It was so good to catch up with everyone and so good to be able to celebrate a milestone birthday with her.
Her mum died very suddenly a few years back. She had a massive aneurism, went straight into a coma and didn't wake up. I was sat looking at my best friend and thinking what an absolutely amazing person she is. She didn't get to say goodbye to her mum but she dealt with everything amazingly. I feel lucky that I'm getting to spend time with my mum and that (hopefully) I'll get to say my goodbyes when the time comes.
My best friend will never fully get over what happened but she is happy and living life to the full. It gave me hope for the future, things might be really difficult just now but it won't always be that way. Life is a journey with a lot of ups and downs. It's not about how many bad things we go through in life that define us it's how we deal with them that counts.
