Weds 29 June
So......today S goes to hospital for her assessment before her ovarian cancer op in a couple of weeks . All these Onc nurses / Macmillan nurses all say to keep to a usual routine , and so from getting a letter yesterday saying arrive on a date mid July at 07.30hrs and not to have meals & drink this stuff to do something or other ..today , at her assessment , the mac nurse says that S is to call the day before to see what time she is to pitch up on the day of the op . So .....I've possibly booked a day off for no reason if the op is in the afternoon where I could have booked it for another time re. Kimo ( yes , i know ) or a day out with S....so much for keeping a usual routine where I have to keep a job , travel and do care practices for S . Also , the mac nurse said to S that the item at the bottom of the letter should be ignored ( re. eating times ) and they are looking at removing it from the letter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about going into word doc and deleting or using a great big black felt tip and drawing a line through it ? Also ...after the surgeon said I cant stay , the mac nurse said that I MIGHT be able to stay whilst S is in the high dependency unit for two days.....but can't be confirmed now. So I have to dick around carrying an overnight bag just in case .......and cant sort out return tickets on the train either .
