MRI Scan

Less than one minute read time.

Just 2 months ago we had a very encouraging MRI scan for my wife Barbara. The results showed a brightness around the site of the operation but the experts felt that was indicative of post operative activity rather than the return of the tumour. That was encouraging and Barbara was elated. That was November - now in January following 3 seizures she has had another  MRI which reveals that the tumour has returned. This is devastating news.

She has been so confused since these recent seizures. The hardest thing is her strenuous endeavours to make sense of what is happening to her. She was a brilliant English teacher, witty, fun loving, vivacious and now she is struggling to understand the simplest ideas. This is such a cruel disease. There are moments of clarity. Last night as my daughter Sarah said goodnight to her Mum, Barbara held her hand and said, 'I'm going to fight Sarah, it'll be years not weeks. We'll be OK!'  The Doctors have said, 'months rather than years,' we travel in hope.
