Its all getting real!

Less than one minute read time.

My husband Darren was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer whilst working abroad.  We now have most of our appointments through, another colonoscopy, cat scan and an added MRI of his liver.  after this is all done we will see the consultants.

Darren's Gastro/cancer specialist rang last night to see how he was coping with his symptoms and talking through his upcoming tests. it was nice to hear from his consultant, however it all makes it so real now,  we sort of been living in a bubble, trying to forget the fact that my husband has a life limiting illness!

Feel utterly scared and a bit down in the dumps today.

Another thing I have noticed that some people who know of his diagnosis really do not know what to say.  they seem to try and talk to us as quickly as possible to escape as soon as possible.  this is really annoying, nothing has changed despite Darren being ill.  i Really cant be bothered today at all!

I was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with a rare cancer its not cureable but it can be treatable. I was in limbo all over xmas and new year. It has hit our family hard. I start chemo next week. I understand what you say about people I found it easy to tell my friends at the end of the day i may have lost weight but I am the same person underneath i was 5 weeks ago. I asked for help and a member of the macmillian support team came out and spoke to me at home.

Sanni I am really sorry to hear that your going through this.  My husband is 45 and his cancer is incurable but hopefully treatable.  to be honest I need him with me for as long as possible, couldn't bear to think of losing him at all.

We have a good support network, I am going to get in touch with Macmillan Nurses at some point over next few weeks.
