New Year's Day 2005 - I made a resolution to lose weight and promptly lost 2 stone in the next 2 months, my new awareness of my body led to noticing a lump on my breast. First ever mammogram was on my birthday in April that year, followed a week later by confirmation of Breast Cancer diagnosis. Partial mastectomy with reconstruction, chemotherapy & radiotherapy followed. A year later (my 37th birthday) I had an "end of treatment" birthday party and decided I needed to live life. A new me grew out of the ashes of the illness and my life changed quite a bit.
