IT WON'T BE LONG NOW

Less than one minute read time.

I still haven't heard when my operation will be. It's my pre op on Tuesday so I guess they'll tell me then. I can't say I'm not worried because I am. It's a big operation, four and a half hours. I only stopped smoking a short while ago and I still have the odd one, occasionally. I'm trying not to have any more but it's hard. I have a Nutribullet and it's great so I will be getting my fruit and vegetables in a daily drink or two. It should help me to eat after the op too. I've ordered two nightshirts for after the op and will be getting some elasticated waist trousers as well. It's hard managing the extra expense as we only have my pension and pension credits. Still, it will be over soon. I expect the operation will be some time next week. I'm going to do some spring cleaning over the next few days and maybe some cooking for the freezer.

  • I know it's hard not to worry, I was 57 last year when I had the Ivor Lewis surgery which lasted about 8 hours. I had been a smoker for 45 years and cut down to 10 a day and smoked up to the night before the operation. The surgery required my right lung to be collapsed for the duration of the procedure. I was in hospital for 12 days and I have not smoked since, if I got the notion to smoke I kept myself occupied with something for a minute or two and the urge went away. Good luck and kind regards Frank.

Thanks Frank. I am down to one or two every other day, roughly. I will use my hospital stay to stop altogether. I have packed my knitting so I'll be keeping my hands busy, which is my main reason for smoking and I have some sugar free gum.
