Travel insurance

Less than one minute read time.

My wife, who has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and who also has other issues such as diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure, was looking for reasonably priced travel insurance for a trip to the USA to see our daughter. We spent a frustrated time on such sites as GoCompare and Saga etc. looking for insurance, but nobody wanted to know (including the insurer who operates our travel insurance via our packaged bank account!), if you had a cancer diagnosis. However, we approached a company called "insurewith.com", who after we completed an online health screen, was prepared to inure her. The planned trip is for 31 days, and the premium was c£360. One thing we did find out, was that you are only likely to ever get single trip insurance.

Try Boots Travel Insurance. Their on line screening covers a great deal without having to ring. I have got annual policy for my wife and I for £70 (Europe only).

I take a lot of meds. Fentynal, Gabapentin, Mirtazapine, Amitriptyline, Tamoxifen, Zometa.

Hope you get the cover you want.

Thanks for the recommendation. As we went with "insurewith" this time, I will certainly give them a try next time. Appreciate your reply

More than happy for my experience to be shared with others. Having spent a frustrating time looking for insurance, if I can help anybody to avoid the time I spent looking I am more than happy to do so.

  • I had the exact same problem, I trawled through all the big names, including insurewith and all the other 'cancer insurance' companies and most wouldn't touch me. We are going to Florida for 3 weeks and I was worried sick until I found Boots also do travel insurance online, my quote was £140 and I had stage 3 Gallbladder cancer last year so definitely try them, good luck with your search.
