So... Yesterday C had his 2nd Oxaliplatin. Responses and reactions were more intense. 10 mins from the end of the bag his throat closed up. Caused by a small sip of water from the machine. Nurses are lovely but as a known side effect no warm water was available. Fortunately a coffee machine was working in the corridor.
Anyway, that blip aside treatment finished after about 5 hours.
The PICC line that he had put in after the first treatment has been a godsend. Has used no pain relief for 10 days.
With us both being aware of side effects, homemade tomato soup was the menu for evening supper. With a goodly swirl of double cream for some extra calories. Guess who forgot to warm the spoon? Such a silly oversight. Like warming the mug so the handle isn't cold on the cup of tea.
Well, we'll be more prepared for the next time (hope, pray). If side effects continue to escalate will have to consider the dodgy foam toilet seat. . . .
