So a tough start.
1st chemo round started 2nd June. Tuesday.
Infusion Cetuximab, Irinotecan with 5FU and folinic acid. FOLFIRI.
By Sunday breathing further deteriorated. Red card said call 111. Ambo. Hospital. X-ray and bloods. PE clot. Ok. Another pill to take.
Roll on to Thursday 11 June. Bad mouth ulcers/sores. Mouthwash prescribed. Consultation, skip a week to recover then go again on a lower dose.
So 23rd June took the lower dose. Ok for two days. Pump off. By Friday his mouth was sore. Almost anaphylactic. Weekend didn't improve. Monday soft food hurt. Tuesday he gave in. Admitted. Today, Thursday 2nd July he still can't take soft food let alone solids. He tries.
He was admitted to our Macmillan ward. He's frustrated, angry and hungry.
Previously healthy and very fit to can't eat. After 2 treatments.
It's tough. What's supposed to extend quality of life has robbed us. ..
17th wedding anniversary tomorrow. I'll find some treats for the lovely staff. And custard or ice-cream for my love.
I'm maudlin so thank you if you made it this far.
