I've just heard from my son this morning that DIL has suffered a stroke.

This is terrible news; the news that she had lung cancer was bad enough but at least she was positive about it all and that helps.

But now because of her condition there is nothing the hospital can do to help combat the stroke.

All this has happened as they were about to embark on a new life running a craft shop in Aberystwyth.

Hi everyone, my training has been going well, weather permitting!

I have walked along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal for distances of 6 to 8 miles. Canals are generally level, but not at 14 locks where the canal rises a distance of 168 feet in just 800 yards and after a six mile walk you do notice you are going uphill!

I had thought of wearing my normal hats and holding them in place with a coloured silk scarf tied under my chin like the ones you see women wearing in old pictures of open top cars. The problem was what colour best suited me, so I decided…

When I discussed exercise with my doctor his reaction was “74 with two knee replacements! Just stroll along the canal and feed the ducks!” I thanked him for his sensible advice and once outside his door said “OH Yeah!” but not loud enough for him to hear, you understand.

When I discussed this with my daughter we agreed that he should have given more encouraging advice, since not only is exercise…
