When I got back home on Sunday this week, there was a letter from the hospital giving me a day surgery appointment for Thursday. I'm glad it is moving so quickly but quite worried about how I will feel after the operation and how long it will take to heal enough to be able to sit or walk easily.
I'm assuming the histopathology results will take a couple of weeks to come back, then I will have another appointment with the surgeon to discuss options for the second (reconstruction) surgery. He told me a sentinel node biopsy "was indicated" but I think that's likely to be a needle biopsy rather than an operation.
MP is coming tomorrow to be with me before and after the operation; his being here means my son will have less of a burden trying to make time to deal with me as well as his own family. The grandchildren have not been told anything yet but I'm hoping they will not be too concerned. They have experience of my being in hospital at different times in the last 18 months. Their other grandmother has emphesymia (sp?) and they have both voiced concern about death because we're old! LOL! All we say is 'eventually, yes, but not for a while yet'
Fortunately, the company I work for has a salary security scheme so I'm OK financially; I'd hate to try living on state benefits and really feel for those who have no choice.
