Its all happened so fast

1 minute read time.

A month ago I was working. Now that is all I may have left to live.

About six weeks ago I began getting headaches - not all the time and not in any specific area, occasionally accompanied by very brief spells of 'uncertainty'. These spells always happened when standing up. I never even thought that I shouldn't be driving.A month ago at work I was walking along and suddenly didn't know where to put my foot down or what to do next. I looked around, foot still in the air, to see a workmate looking at me and asking if i was all right.

Off to A&E where a quick assessment had me booked into TIA outpatients next day.Head CT revealed a tumour, possibly 2 together, and chest x-ray revealed a lung tumour. Taken directly to Frenchay neurological unit in Bristol and on wednesday, had a third ventriculostomy to  relieve hydrocephaly. Up and walking within hours and feeling great.home again Thursday evening.

Now 25 days after the first big event I am told its a 3cm tumour in the cerebellum with 4 other significant growths nearby and several other small growths dotted around. It's untreatable I am looking at a few months (average) to go.

Tom, I feel so much for you that I don't know what to say, apart from, I'm so very sorry.

We were given similar news two weeks ago and although still reeling, have found strength that we didn't know we had.

Yes, if possible, please get a second opinion.

    Never, ever give up.

Sending you some of my strength.

    With love,

    Tricia.X

Very sorry to hear your news Tom, but

like other members here im saying dont

give up, get a second opinion.I was a

nurse for many years, mainly caring

for people with cancer and i can tell you

that Doctors dont always get it right. There

are many members here in Macland that

were given a few months to live and are

still with us ,some for a few years ,so you

go out there and get more information

about other treatments. Wishing you all

the luck in the world, and keep fighting.

    With Love Lucylee. xxxxx

Yes, get other opinions...If the US is an option, check out the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.  It is a world class place and care second to NONE.  That is what I think.

    We are with you...xx

My sincerest thanks to all of you who have responded to my blog. While well aware that 'other' people get cancer and 'other' people have great tragedies in their lives, your responses have really made me feel that I am not on my own here and really part of a communuty, not an outsider looking in.

I will be looking into each and every suggestion which has been made and have not given up by any means. Your responses have ccertainly increased my resolve.
