Its all happened so fast

1 minute read time.

A month ago I was working. Now that is all I may have left to live.

About six weeks ago I began getting headaches - not all the time and not in any specific area, occasionally accompanied by very brief spells of 'uncertainty'. These spells always happened when standing up. I never even thought that I shouldn't be driving.A month ago at work I was walking along and suddenly didn't know where to put my foot down or what to do next. I looked around, foot still in the air, to see a workmate looking at me and asking if i was all right.

Off to A&E where a quick assessment had me booked into TIA outpatients next day.Head CT revealed a tumour, possibly 2 together, and chest x-ray revealed a lung tumour. Taken directly to Frenchay neurological unit in Bristol and on wednesday, had a third ventriculostomy to  relieve hydrocephaly. Up and walking within hours and feeling great.home again Thursday evening.

Now 25 days after the first big event I am told its a 3cm tumour in the cerebellum with 4 other significant growths nearby and several other small growths dotted around. It's untreatable I am looking at a few months (average) to go.

I am so very sorry! What can one say. Except don't give up the spirit works wonders and there are such things asmiracles.people on this site have had them. Maybe seek a second opinion. Keep fighting, once you get through the shock you might find the strength to fight. Good luck and I am sending a big warm hug . Stay on this site there are some wonderful people on here who might help you. Love Julie xxxx

I'm really sorry to hear your bad news - its such a shock, and it takes a long time to get over it.

But please, please do your research on the internet - friends of mine have just taken their little boy to the US to have Proton B therapy on his brain tumour.  It must be worth looking into?  And I would definitely get a second opinion.  Love Jeanie x

Tom, don't know what to say except, keep fighting. As Jeanie has said, take a look at the internet and see what may be available. Anything is worth a try. Wishing you lots of strength.

What a shock!  I felt the same back in June to be told I had acute myleoid leukaemia - one day at work - next day in hospital facing the end game.  However six months later I am still here and still well- one never knows and the doctors are not always right - remember they can only go on statistics.  I have been able to hold my own and there is no reason why you should not be able to too - just believe in yourself!

    big hug

Tom, I have sent you a message, my sister had a tumour in the same place as you have. I just wanted you to explain a little about treatment that wasn`t available to her but is available now.

    Take care
